How Rad Jamz Brings Local Flavour to Every Spoonful

Kyla King founder of Rad Jamz

Founded by chef and entrepreneur Kyla King in West Kelowna, BC, Rad Jamz transforms locally grown fruit into the yummiest jams, jellies, and relishes that showcase the Okanagan’s incredible bounty.

So, what makes Rad Jamz stand out?

  • They use locally grown fruit from the Okanagan
  • They support Canadian farmers and producers
  • They create jams, jellies, and relishes with simple ingredients
  • They focus on low-sugar recipes that let real fruit shine
  • They help reduce food waste by using high-quality produce that might otherwise go unused.

Rad Jamz is not your average jam company. They champion local agriculture, reduce food waste, and prove that simple ingredients can create the sweetest flavours.

That is exactly why we’re proud to partner with them.

Rooted in Family Traditions

Kyla’s appreciation for local food began long before Rad Jamz existed. She spent her childhood surrounded by gardens, preserving jars, and homemade pantry staples. It was a normal, everyday occurrence to make strawberry freezer jam, pickle vegetables, can tomatoes, and bottle fresh apple juice. In fact, Kyla grew up eating homemade jam and never experienced the store-bought version until she was an adult.

From Professional Chef to Jam Maker

Before Rad Jamz, Kyla focused on building her culinary career. She earned her Red Seal certification and began working in renowned kitchens throughout Canada, Australia, and the United Kingdom, including Michelin-starred restaurants and Mission Hill Winery in Kelowna.

While she loved the culinary world, she wanted to create something that reflected her own values and creativity. After moving to Summerland with her fiancé, Alby, a visit to the local farmers’ market inspired a new direction.

Enter Rad Jamz.

Backing Local Farmers One Jar at a Time

What started as a weekend passion project quickly evolved into a successful business. Today, Rad Jamz creates unique preserves using locally grown fruit sourced primarily from farmers throughout the Okanagan.

Kyla focuses on using real ingredients with minimal sugar, allowing the fruit to shine while creating products that taste fresh and authentic. She also works with “imperfect” produce that might go to waste, helping reduce waste while supporting local growers.

For Kyla, making jam is a perfect blend of science and art. Her background in fine dining drives her attention to detail, guaranteeing every batch achieves the perfect consistency, flavour, and texture.

A Celebration of Home Grown Success

One of the most inspiring parts of Kyla’s story is her enthusiasm to collaborate. She has built strong relationships with local farmers, producers, and other entrepreneurs throughout British Columbia, creating a network that supports one another’s success.

This philosophy is what drew us to Rad Jamz. OEB actively seeks partners who:

  • Invest in Canadian agriculture.
  • Support local communities
  • Prioritize quality ingredients
  • Practice sustainability
Share our passion for exceptional food.

Those shared values make Rad Jamz a natural fit for our kitchens.

A Sweet Future Established on Local Roots

From its beginnings at a local farmers’ market, Rad Jamz has grown into a recognized Canadian brand found in hundreds of retailers and food service partners. Despite that growth, the company’s mission remains the same: create exceptional products with real fruit, support local agriculture, and make people fall in love with jam all over again.

Behind every spoonful of Rad Jamz is a story of family traditions, culinary craftsmanship, sustainability, and community. We’re proud to feature suppliers like Kyla who remind us that great food starts with passionate people and local ingredients, and we’re excited to continue sharing those flavours with our guests, one breakfast at a time.
