Soma Brasa: Canadian-Roasted Coffee Made for Brunch

Imagine sitting down at your favourite breakfast spot. The server welcomes you with a friendly smile.

“Can I start you off with some coffee?”
“Yes, please. And keep it coming.”

Soon, a small porcelain mug appears in front of you, filled to the top with dark, steaming coffee. You add some cream, maybe a bit of sugar, stir, and take that first, much-awaited sip.
That first sip of morning coffee is a ritual for millions. It’s a quiet moment before the day starts—a simple pleasure.

But sometimes, it disappoints.

Instead of being rich and comforting, it tastes bitter and somehow watery. It’s flat, forgettable, and feels like an afterthought rather than part of the meal.

We’ve all experienced it, and we made sure that would never be the case in our restaurants.

A Coffee That Starts at the Source

Coffee should never be the weakest part of breakfast. That’s why we teamed up with Origins Coffee Roasters to create da Terra Soma Brasa, our exclusive Canadian-roasted breakfast blend.

The story of da Terra begins with the farmers who grow the beans. The name means “of the Earth” in Portuguese and reflects a commitment to regenerative farming, environmental stewardship, and building strong relationships with the people behind each harvest.

Da Terra values every step of the journey, not just the final product. Each bag brings together growers, roasters, and coffee lovers who share a passion for quality and sustainability.

Why We Named It Soma Brasa

Soma Brasa gets its name from the origins of its beans, which come from Brazil and Sumatra. Inspired by the early morning, this breakfast blend is about slowing down before the day gets busy. Whether you’re easing into a quiet morning or gathering with family and friends, Soma Brasa is made to make those moments feel more special.

Soma Brasa has tasting notes of dark chocolate, molasses, and toasted nuts. It’s a rich, smooth cup with enough depth to wake up your palate without overwhelming it.

Designed to Pair with Every OEB Dish

Soma Brasa was designed to pair perfectly with OEB’s menu, so every cup complements the flavours on your plate rather than competing with them. Sweet dishes like French toast, pancakes, and fresh fruit are lifted by the blend’s chocolate and molasses notes, while savoury favourites like our eggs bennys and breakfast poutines get a boost from its warm, nutty finish.

The result is a coffee that’s full of flavour but not too bold, smooth but not too mild, and versatile enough for any brunch. We don’t expect our coffee to steal the show—but it just might.

Canadian Roasted in Small Batches

When the beans arrive in Canada, Origins Coffee roasts them using vintage cast iron roasters and small-batch methods perfected since 1999. Each roast brings out the beans’ natural character and ensures the consistency you can expect every time you visit OEB.

Origins delivers fresh batches of beans to our restaurants across Canada every week. You can enjoy Soma Brasa while dining in, or buy it from our pantry as ground or whole beans.

More Than a Cup of Coffee

Coffee has always brought people together and warmed the soul. For da Terra, it’s about connecting farming families with Canadian roasters. For Origins Coffee, it’s about honouring every bean with care. For OEB, it’s about serving a cup as intentionally as the food next to it.

Every cup of Soma Brasa tells a story that starts in the soil, passes through caring hands, and ends up at your table, ready to be part of your morning routine.

So next time you sit down for brunch, pause for a moment before your first sip.
